  Kristen Daley is Director of Value-Based Programs for Centura Health's South Denver Operating Group. Directs and manages the coordination of regulatory and commercial value-based payment programs to ensure that South Denver Group hospitals and their provider partners deliver more coordinated and cost effective care to the populations served.

She previously held the position of Director, Orthopedic Service Line for Porter Adventist Hospital at Centura Health, and held healthcare consulting positions with national firms prior to that. Kristen has a Bachelor of Arts degree form Dartmouth College.

 
Brenda Lewis

Group Manager Care Coordination, Centura Health, Denver, CO

  Brenda Lewis is Group Manager of Care Coordination for Centura Health's South Denver Operating Group (SDOG), overseeing the Care Coordination program for Value Based Programs. She works with the Centura preferred provider network to ensure that the SDOG hospitals and their post-acute partners deliver coordinated care to patients.

Brenda previously held positions during the past decade with Centura Health including Transition of Care Manager, Case Management Supervisor and RN Case Manager. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Registered Nursing from Florence-Darlington Technical College and a MBA - Health Care Management from the University of Phoenix.
 

 
Basit Chaudhry

  Dr. Chaudhry is an internal medicine physician and medical technologist whose expertise focuses on health care payment, clinical service redesign, and the use of data analytics to improve clinical and financial performance in health care.

Tuple Health works with providers, payers, and purchasers to transition to new models for value-based payment and collaborative, population health. Tuple Health technology-enabled services include optimization of health care resource allocation, payment model design and implementation, utilization and financial analysis, and support for value-based contracting.

Prior to starting Tuple Health, Dr. Chaudhry was a medical scientist at IBM Research where his work focused on using data analytics and information technology to drive innovation in health care. His work focused on improving health care productivity, ACO & PCMH implementation, optimizing workforce utilization, and improving the quality and efficiency of care. In addition to technology development, Dr. Chaudhry worked on developing IBM’s private- and public-sector business strategies for the health care industry. Dr. Chaudhry was lead research clinician for IBM’s artificial intelligence computing system Watson—famous for its victories on the quiz show Jeopardy! In this role, Dr. Chaudhry focused on developing the Watson technology for clinical practice.

After finishing his medical training in internal medicine, Dr. Chaudhry completed the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program at UCLA, earning a PhD focused on biomedical informatics and health services research. Dr. Chaudhry has worked in the Internal Medicine department at UCLA and as a research scientist at the RAND Corporation. He has provided expertise to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Institute of Medicine and served on a working group of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, coauthoring its policy report, “Realizing the Full Potential of Health Information Technology.”
 

 
Kavita Patel

  Kavita Patel is a Nonresident Fellow at the Brookings Institution. Previously, she was the managing director of clinical transformation at the Center for Health Policy.

Dr. Patel is a practicing primary care internist at Johns Hopkins Medicine. She also served in the Obama Administration as director of policy for the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement in the White House. As a senior aide to Valerie Jarrett, President Obama’s senior advisor, Dr. Patel played a critical role in policy development and evaluation of policy initiatives connected to health reform, financial regulatory reform, and economic recovery issues.

Dr. Patel also has a deep understanding of Capitol Hill from her time spent on the late Senator Edward Kennedy’s staff. As deputy staff director on health, she served as a policy analyst and trusted aide to the Senator and was part of the senior staff of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee under Sen. Kennedy’s leadership. She also has an extensive research and clinical background, having worked as a researcher at the RAND Corporation and as a practicing physician in both California and Oregon. She is a previous Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar, and while at Brookings, she will return to providing clinical care as an internal medicine practitioner. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center and her masters in public health from the University of California Los Angeles.
 

 
Deirdre Baggot

  Deirdre is one of the healthcare industry’s most respected voices on the subject of bundled payments. The leader of ECG’s Bundled Payments practice, she has been invited to testify before Congress on the efficacy of bundled payments, was appointed expert reviewer by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the Bundled Payments for Care Initiative, and has served as the lead for the Acute Care Episode (ACE) Bundled Payment Demonstration. She is frequently asked to be a keynote speaker on the topic.

Prior to joining ECG, Deirdre spent 6 years at a national consulting firm as Senior Vice President and practice leader for bundled payments. Before that she spent 10 years in academic healthcare, first at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and later at the University of Michigan Health System, serving in key leadership roles. Deirdre has authored more than 20 papers on bundled payments, healthcare reform, and payment transformation and has been a featured expert on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Planet Money.
