Brian T. Day

Brian T. Day, EdD
Director of Advanced Analytics, Highmark, Inc.

 
  Dr. Brian Day is currently the Director of Advanced Analytics and has been employed at Highmark for 9 years. His department is responsible for developing innovative strategies in trending disease and costs, developing ROI models, and conducting financial and clinical analysis of both internal and external initiatives sponsored by Highmark.

Brian completed his doctorate in Educational Psychology at West Virginia University in January 1999. The dissertation was titled; “Using Stages Of Change To Examine Fear, Threat, Efficacy, And Safety Climate Perceptions In Health Care Workers Who Routinely Handle Needles And Sharps.” The research examined the effect of perceptions on safety behavior.

Prior to employment at Highmark, Brian worked at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for 9 years as a statistician and health communications researcher and consultant. Before NIOSH, Brian was a project coordinator at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic and oversaw the operations and evaluation of a multi-year, 400 plus family, longitudinal research study investigating the fire setting behavior among children.

  

Russell Robbins

Russell D. Robbins, MD, MBA
Principal & Senior Clinical Consultant, Mercer

 
  Russell D. Robbins is currently working on ways of using healthcare data to improve quality and care delivery. In addition, he is helping to create new decision support solutions.

Prior to joining Mercer, he served as a Medical Director for iHealthTechnologies, Inc. Before this, he served as a Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for the Symmetry product line of Ingenix. Dr. Robbins also served as the Medical Director for HealthMarket, one of the first consumer directed health plans, a consultant for the Trizetto group, and was in private practice as a urologist.

Dr. Robbins received his BA in Biology from Swarthmore College. He obtained his MD from New York University School of Medicine and his MBA in Health Sciences from Union College in Schenectady, NY. Dr. Robbins completed his surgical and urologic residencies at New York University Medical Center.
 


 


Rebecca Susic
VP of Account Management, MEDai

 
 

 

As VP of Account Management with MEDai, Rebecca Susic works with customers to ensure a successful implementation and adoption of MEDai’s products. Rebecca has renewed customers' contracts accounting for nearly $1M in annual contract revenue. Rebecca has served in this capacity since 2003.

Prior to joining MEDai in 2003, Rebecca was Product Director with ViPS, Inc. in Baltimore, MD. As Product Director, she developed and implemented product strategies that resulted in the company’s commercial market share growing from zero in 1997 to nearly 25% (for all products) in 2002.

Rebecca attended the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, and has a Masters in Health Administration from Lindenwood Colleges in St. Charles, Missouri.
 


William Bramble
William F. Bramble

President, Health Cost & Risk Management, LLC
  HCRM is the leading provider of clinical predictive modeling services to the self-funded market, serving third-party administrators, brokers, physicians and others using state-of-the-art software licensed from MEDai.

Mr. Bramble has extensive experience in executive management, strategic planning and financial management with several national health care organizations as well as other businesses. He created and led AHCP, an innovative third party administrator integrating innovative plan designs with disease management programs and claims administration.

Mr. Bramble has also worked in the drug chemicals and pharmaceutical industries as well as medical devices with Mallinckrodt. He led a national health care provider organization when he was President & CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, a multi-site cancer treatment company. Mr. Bramble holds an M.B.A. degree from the Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University.
 



Russell A. Jackson

  Russell A. Jackson is a twenty-year veteran editor and writer on a variety of health care topics including Disease Management, Managed Care, Pharmaceutical and Clinical newsletters and articles.

His work has appeared in the Los Angeles Business Journal, Atlanta Business Chronicle, Managed Care Outlook, Clinical Trials Advisor, The Nexus, and more than three dozen other newsletters, magazines, and newspapers throughout the United States.

Russell has served as Editor for Predictive Modeling News since the newsletter's inception in late 2007.
 


Rong Yi

Rong Yi, PhD

Milliman, Inc.
  Rong Yi, PhD is a senior consultant at Milliman’s Boston office. She joined the firm in September 2009. Dr. Yi has extensive experience in risk adjustment and predictive modeling for healthcare, workers compensation, and other fields. She has worked with government agencies, health plans, managed care organizations, provider organizations, employers, workers compensation insurers, and researchers in the U.S. and other parts of the world. She is a frequent speaker at professional and academic conferences.

Dr. Yi’s expertise includes Medicare and Medicaid risk adjustment, risk adjusted underwriting, risk selection and migration, provider pay-for-performance and contracting, predictive modeling for risk stratification and program evaluation, data-driven cost and utilization management, system reforms, and health reforms, etc. She pioneered in the areas of predictive modeling for workers compensation medical management, risk adjusted episodes for provider profiling, risk adjustment models for group underwriting, and predictive models for the Patient-Centered Medical Home. She also led the adoption of diagnosis-based risk adjustment in the recent German health reforms, and is assisting foreign government organizations in their research and strategy for their future health reforms.

Prior to joining Milliman, Dr. Yi led research and consulting at DxCG (now Verisk Health), and was responsible for its major releases of the risk adjustment and predictive models that are now widely used in the healthcare industry, as well as numerous custom models and tools developed for specific client applications.
  

Surya Singh
Surya Singh, MD
Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, Clinical Development
Proventys, Inc.

  As Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Clinical Development, Dr. Surya Singh is responsible for leading the Company’s clinical product strategy, clinical operations and regulatory and scientific affairs. Dr. Singh brings more than a decade of clinical and operational experience to Proventys, having served most recently as Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Client Solutions and Clinical Operations for D2Hawkeye, a market-leading, healthcare data mining and predictive modeling company.

In this role, he led all aspects of clinical product development, directed the Medical Advisory Group and handled business development activity targeting Medicare and Medicaid.  Prior to joining D2Hawkeye, Dr. Singh served as engagement manager at McKinsey and Company, where he helped construct comprehensive product quality and growth strategies for commercial and academic healthcare organizations, and developed and modeled electronic health records (EHR) adoption strategies by partnering with a variety of constituencies.

Dr. Singh received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins Medical School and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He currently serves as both a part-time hospitalist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

  Mr. Masud has over twelve years of health insurance, financial services, commercial P&C insurance, public sector, technology, data warehousing and predictive modeling experience. His areas of expertise include: technical implementation and integration of predictive modeling applications across multiple industries, database design and data warehousing, business intelligence and reporting, project management, healthcare predictive modeling for private and public sector insurance, and development of decision support and expert systems.

Mr. Masud has led numerous engagements of the implementation of large-scale predictive modeling, data warehousing, business intelligence and custom technical applications for commercial P&C insurance companies, integrated healthcare delivery networks and health insurers.


Brian Smith
Brian C. Smith
Executive Vice President, Sales, HealthCare Insight

  Brian Smith joined HCI in March of 2008 and currently serves as Executive Vice President of Sales. He has over 27 years of experience in the health care industry and has served in various senior executive positions in Fortune 500 companies as well as venture-backed startups throughout his career.

Smith completed his graduate coursework in business administration and public health at UC Irvine and UCLA earning dual BS degrees in both Biology and Psychology.
