Michael Sherman is Vice President and General Manager for the Health Plan Solutions business unit at Thomson Medstat. Dr. Sherman has overall management responsibility for Medstat products and services in the health plan market, including decision support and consulting services. Dr. Sherman has served as medical director and business development capacity at various healthcare organizations. He has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and M.D. from the Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Pennsylvania.

Ronald J. Ozminkowski, Ph.D., is Director, Health and Productivity Management Research, at Thomson Medstat. Dr Ozminkowski has been designing, managing, and conducting evaluation studies and health services research projects for government and private-sector clients since 1983. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and written several additional papers and project reports on issues such as the impact of drug testing on medical expenditures, access to healthcare services, the impact of health promotion on changes in medical expenditures, the impact of managed care on healthcare utilization and expenditures, health status measurement techniques, provider profiling, and other topics. Dr. Ozminkowski received his Ph.D. in health services organization and policy from the University of Michigan in 1989. Before joining Medstat, he was a research manager at Abt Associates and a research fellow at the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research. He also taught health economics at Mercy College of Detroit and at Eastern Michigan University.

Dr. David Schutt is the Associate Medical Director of the Office of Clinical Evaluation for The MEDSTAT Group. He is currently responsible for sales and clinical consultation in support of several MEDSTAT clinical performance products. Dr. Schutt has ten years of corporate level physician executive experience for a worldwide $12 billion, eight million member health plan. Additionally, Dr. Schutt has fifteen years of experience as a board-certified family physician. He has practiced the full range of family medicine, including obstetrics and minor surgery, in a variety of care settings ranging from isolated island hospitals to tertiary care teaching facilities. He received a B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy and his M.D. from George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Schutt is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland. He has served in elective leadership positions in several national-level medical organizations.

Jon Conklin
, Vice President, Performance Measurement, Thomson Medstat

Jonathan Conklin is Vice President of Performance Measurement at Medstat.  In this capacity, he oversees Medstat’s research and consulting activity relating to the measurement and reporting of provider and health plan performance, quality improvement, patient safety, disease management, and treatment effectiveness. Mr. Conklin is currently the Program Administrator for Bridges to Excellence, a physician reward-for-performance program sponsored by large employers in several major US markets.  He is also Principal Investigator of the Alpha Project, a physician recognition and feedback program undertaken with the New Jersey Medical Society.  He was instrumental in designing and managing the early phases of the California Cooperative Healthcare Reporting Initiative, now in its 11th year. Mr. Conklin’s research group includes economists, policy researchers, and programmer analysts, with projects ranging from an evaluation of the Leapfrog Group Initiative and an assessment of patient safety data systems, to medical cost-offset studies of new drug therapies and the design of a national senior risk-reduction demonstration program.
