ABSTRACT
In
“Healthcare Payer Organization Client Issues for 2004,” Gartner predicts
that the transformation from a transaction focus to an information focus will
become the future differentiator for healthcare payers. Health insurers and administrators that prevail against
competitors will be those that can tap into their rich stores of data to produce
timely, credible, accurate, clear and useful information to:
–
Support
decisions that influence health service quality and cost reduction;
–
Deliver
and demonstrate value to customers; and
–
Satisfy
regulatory reporting requirements.
The process of turning mountains of raw health data
into real information presents major business challenges for health payers.
Join us on July 15th at 1:00 Eastern for
an informative, one-hour Industry Web Summit & Audio Conference, hosted by
MCOL and sponsored by CSC, in which we’ll explore creative and cost-effective
solutions for addressing this problem. Learn
from healthcare business intelligence experts Manon Ruben, Senior Scientist with
Quality Resource Systems, Inc., and Kelsey Rauch, Senior Manager with CSC’s
AdvanceMed division, as we focus on the latest approaches for:
–
Identifying best treatment patterns;
–
Targeting health plan members for proactive health intervention and care
management; and
– Effectively communicating medical cost drivers to health plan customers.

Manon Spitzer Ruben has over 25 years experience in health services research and analysis. Formerly Vice President for Applications Research at AdvanceMed Corporation, a CSC Company, she is now a Senior Scientist with Quality Resource Systems, Inc. as well as an independent consultant with Plan Data Management, Inc. and with the Public Health Institute of California. She has played key roles in the development of software and population-based analytic products applied to private sector managed care, Medicare and Medicaid, and the Department of Defense TRICARE program. These analyses integrate epidemiological methods and predictive risk assessment and adjustment tools to fairly evaluate variations in health care delivery, provider performance, and costs. She is a recognized expert on ACGs (Adjusted Clinical Groups), DCGs (Diagnosis Cost Groups), and ETGs (Episode Treatment Groups), assisting clients to convert the results of their statistical analyses into strategies for provider performance evaluation, including fraud detection, reimbursement and capitation strategies, network selection, disease management, and continuous quality improvement. |
