Benjamin Isgur is the Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP’s Health Research Institute. As Director, Mr. Isgur develops national and global thought leadership and research initiatives for the firm and clients. HRI is a dedicated research group that provides new intelligence, perspective, and analysis on major health-related business issues. He also consults with healthcare systems, trade associations, and policy groups on strategic planning, and industry intelligence and trends.

Mr. Isgur has worked extensively with health policy and industry associations including, American Hospital Association (AHA), Texas Hospital Association (THA), Indiana Health and Hospital Association (IHHA), Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA), Texas Institute of Health Policy Research (TIHPR), and the California Healthcare Foundation (CHCF).

Mr. Isgur has published numerous reports and spoken on health subjects such as, government health policy, workforce strategies, hospital charity care and community benefit, consumerism, and the digital hospital environment. Prior to joining PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP he worked in government relations, legislative and regulatory consulting, and policy analysis in Texas, Washington D.C. and internationally. He received a Master of Public Affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts, Government and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.

J. David Johnson is a Vice President and Senior Health Consultant with The Segal Company, a national employee benefits and human resourcees consulting firm. Based in the Washington, DC office, he works with clients to design and implement strategies to enhance the value of their employee benefit offerings. He has particular expertise in evidence-based workplace wellness programs, value-based purchasing strategies and employer issues related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). He is also an Adjunct Faculty at Towson University, where he teaches Employee Wellness and Healthy Workforce Management in the Masters in Human Resource Development program.

Mr. Johnson has twenty-five years of experience in healthcare and employee benefits. He is a frequent national and regional speaker on workplace wellness, healthcare cost management strategies and ACA. He has provided testimony on employer issues related to ACA to both the US Department of Labor and the Washington, DC City Council. During the last year, he has spoken at two Briefings at the US Capitol on the value of prevention to American employers. He has published multiple articles on employee benefits issues in Bloomberg / Bureau of National Affairs, and has been quoted in the Washington Business Journal, the Baltimore Business Journal, Employee Benefits News and the Capital Gazette.

Mr. Johnson is a Board Member of the MidAtlantic Business Group on Health, past-president of the Worldwide Employee Benefits Group, Baltimore Chapter and a member of the National Prevention Committee for the American Diabetes Association. He serves on the State of Maryland’s Health Care Delivery Reform Subcommittee, appointed by Maryland’s Secretary of Health & Mental Hygiene. He holds an MBA in Health Care Management from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelors of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Ms. Welter is a Principal in ECG Management Consultant's Washington, D.C., office and head of ECG’s Contracting and Provider Performance practice. She has extensive experience in the areas of managed care and provider payment, including strategy development, reimbursement, contract negotiations, and operations.

She has recently been closely involved in assisting hospitals, medical groups, payors, and industry associations with understanding the types of arrangements that will be needed to successfully react to healthcare reform and to establish contracting structures that facilitate hospital/physician alignment and clinical integration.

Ms. Welter is a frequent national speaker on the topics of evolving provider payment vehicles and ACO development. Ms. Welter holds a master of science degree with a concentration in healthcare administration from Villanova University and a bachelor of arts degree in preprofessional studies from the University of Notre Dame.

Miles Snowden is a strategic advisor and innovator for providers and payers seeking successful development and participation in new business models, including those sharing risk and reward with delivery systems. In this work, he leverages his deep experience in improving patient outcomes, the health of communities and the financial performance of payers and providers. Core to this focus is his belief that all of these health care stakeholders can be similarly benefited through thoughtful innovation and consultation.

As the senior physician executive for Optum, the health services division of UnitedHealth Group, Snowden provides clinical oversight of the company’s development and distribution of health care technology, services and consulting designed to assist Optum’s provider and payer clients in making informed health care decisions, preventing illness, gaining operational efficiency and maximizing financial performance. Optum serves more than 250,000 providers, more than 350 payers and nearly 60 million health care consumers.

Snowden is also a member of the executive clinical leadership team of UnitedHealth Group. In this role, he represents the enterprise in industry venues, as well as with leaders of organized medicine, clients, regulators, legislators and investors. Snowden has served in various leadership roles within UnitedHealth Group. Prior to his current role, he worked at UnitedHealthcare, where he led national clinical product development, delivery and consulting for the commercial business. Concurrently he led UnitedHealthcare’s southeast region client management organization.

Prior to his work at UnitedHealth Group, Snowden was the chief medical officer at Delta Air Lines, where he managed global health care benefits for more than 180,000 individuals. Earlier in his career, he founded an occupational health consulting practice in Louisville, Ky., and served as its medical director.

His undergraduate and medical degrees were obtained at the University of Louisville, and he completed his medical residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and also the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He is known for his passionate and entertaining public speaking at health care industry meetings, organized medicine gatherings and client events.


 
Pat Teske, RN, MHA

Pat Teske, RN, MHA is the implementation officer for Cynosure Health. In her role she strives to implement the company’s vision through strategic planning and execution of projects on time and within budget that yield successful outcomes.

Previously she held the position of vice president of Quality Improvement and Care Management for Catholic Healthcare West, Pasadena, CA where she lead the regions: chief nursing officers, quality directors, case managers and medical staff directors to accomplish their annual goals.

As an independent contractor Pat supported BEACON, the Bay Area Patient Safety Collaborative, as well as other state and local collaboratives. She is currently leading the Avoid Readmissions through Collaboration (ARC) effort in CA and working nationally with HRET on the Partnership for Patients HEN. A requested public speaker at national, state and local conferences, including; IHI, NPSF and TJC Ms. Teske has developed and offered numerous educational programs designed to support performance improvement and system reliability.

Pat received her MHA from the University of LaVern and her BS in Nursing from the University of Virginia.


 


Marshall Riddle

Marshall Riddle has been part of MCOL's administrative team since 2008, and has since been promoted to the position of Senior Analyst. Among other duties, Marshall is editor for a number of MCOL e-publications, manages research staff, and is responsible for company research and analysis on a wide variety of health care business issues.

Marshall is responsible for MCOL social media initiatives and research, and manages and monitors MCOL and other related activity in such venues as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. Marshall, with support from other MCOL staff, is responsible for preparation of the 2011 and 2012 editions of the MCOL white paper: Measuring Health Care Business Social Media Activity.

Marshall is based in MCOL's Modesto office, and has been involved in local government and election committees and initiatives. Prior to his current tenure at MCOL, he held increasing responsible positions with environmental, legislative and voter registration initiatives. He has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from California State University at Chico.
